With my dissertation my aim is to dig deeper into Jim Jarmusch’s world view and
understand how he strives to fascinate his audiences with these uncommon and almost bizarre characters.

Jim Jarmusch was born and raised in a middleclass family from Akron, Ohio, a place known only for its rubber industry (and the brand Goodyear).

The beauty of ideas is that they are like waves in the ocean and they connect with things that came before them, and I think it is very important to embrace things that interest you and influence you, and incorporate them into what you do, as all artists have always done.

“I do it my way or I don’t do it. It helps me in negotiating to know that I will walk away if I don’t have control... I decide how the film is cut, how long it is, what music is used, who is cast. I make films by hand.”

“When I get depressed, or anything, I go 'think of all the music I haven't even heard yet!' So, it's the one thing. Imagine the world without music. Man, just hand me a gun, will you?”
